Collecting cars is fun, but racing them is a BLAST. Starting at our Spring 2024 show at Lakota East High School, guests may purchase a club-provided, unopened Hot Wheels car at random to compete as their racer.

After all the entries have been submitted (up to 64 cars available), we’ll race the cars on our custom club Hot Wheels track two at a time in a single elimination style bracket. Once we get to the final two cars, it’ll be a “best out of three” race to crown the champion.

The winning car’s owner wins a brand new case of Hot Wheels! Don’t miss this exciting new event…the racing will be fast and furious! More details below.

Frequently asked questions:

Where / When will the race be held? The race will be held at Lakota East High School (most likely either the cafeteria or learning lab at the end of the hall). Our first race will be held during the Spring 2024 Show on March 16, 2024. We estimate the race will start at approximately 10:30am.

How do I get a car to race? Approximately 30 mins before race time, GCHWC club members at the race track location will start selling carded / unopened Hot Wheels cars as race entries. Entrants will pick at random from the assortment available (no outside cars are permitted in this race, we will make sure all cars will fit on the track) and this will become their race entry.

Immediately after opening the car, it will be assigned a number and officially entered in the race. The club will then stage the cars and begin the race.

How much are the entry cars? Race cars will be available the morning of the show for $3 each.

Can I race my own car that I bring from home? For this race, only the unopened / numbered cars provided by the club are eligible for racing.

Do entrants get to actually release it down the track? After the cars are submitted, the club race officials will stage and release the cars on the track for racing. Spectators are definitely encouraged, however.

How many cars can I purchase to enter? We have space for up to 64 cars for this race. We’ll start by offering one car to all who wish to enter, however if there are additional cars left when all participants have bought in, any additional cars will be available for purchase on a first come, first serve basis.

What does the winner win? The winner or the race will receive an unopened case of Hot Wheels (72 cars). Will there be treasure hunts or other limited release editions inside? We certainly hope so!

Do I need to be present / watching the race to win? No…all cars will be numbered and entrants may leave their name. Winning racer must pick up their case in person, however.

Can I keep my entry car after it races? Of course!
